In a significant step towards environmental responsibility, Toronto Film Week has partnered with Treeplan.org to plant 200 trees. This initiative reflects the company's commitment to sustainability and a greener future.

Rebuilding Forests, One Tree at a Time

Forests are essential to life on Earth. Trees capture carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and provide shelter for countless species. Depending on the size and type, a single mature tree can generate enough oxygen for up to 18 people. Unfortunately, deforestation continues at an alarming rate, with humanity destroying 18 million acres of forest annually.

To counteract this loss, Toronto Film Week has chosen to take action. By planting 200 trees through Treeplan.org, they are contributing to reforestation efforts that help restore ecosystems, combat climate change, and promote biodiversity.

About Toronto Film Week

The Toronto Film Week is an annual week-long event showcasing independent films with an edge. The event was created by independent filmmakers, for independent filmmakers, with the sole purpose to showcase and screen new and upcoming talent.

Running in association with the Toronto Arthouse Film Festival (screens in Fall), the Toronto Film Week (screens in Spring) focuses on the unconventional, the unusual, the underground, the intuitive, the innovative, the minimalistic and the true artists of our time.

Treeplan.org is dedicated to reversing deforestation by working with individuals, businesses, and organizations to plant trees and restore forests. Their mission is to ensure that future generations have access to clean air, thriving ecosystems, and sustainable resources.

Through innovative partnerships, Treeplan.org merges environmental, social, and commercial objectives, enabling businesses to make a real impact while maintaining their goals. Did you know: Trees are amazing organisms. Every tree captures carbon dioxide and generates oxygen for other people, plants, and animals on earth. Depending on the size and type of tree, a single mature tree can produce enough oxygen for up to 18 people!

Did you know: humanity destroys 18 million acres of forest every year. That’s billions of trees that are being wiped out year-after-year for building materials, paper manufacture, or to make room for cattle grazing or infrastructure development. At Treeplan.org, we want to turn that around. It’s our goal to be part of the solution, ensuring that healthy forests and abundant clean air are available for the coming generations.

Treeplan.org informs and motivates action. We spotlight meaningful reforestation projects from around the world and connect our visitors to initiatives that plant the right trees, in the right places, for lasting impact. Working with trusted partners such as Plant-for-the-Planet, in support of the United Nations Environment Programme, we help turn awareness into concrete action—so everyone can contribute to restoring forests and securing a livable future.
