Oxygen for the Future: Documentary Film Festival Network Plants 2,200 Trees with Treeplan.org

Updated: Mar 16

Doc.World (Berlin, Boston, London, Ghent, Sydney) has taken a significant step towards environmental responsibility by partnering with Treeplan.org to plant 2,200 trees. This initiative is part of the company’s commitment to sustainability and a greener future.

Rebuilding Forests, One Tree at a Time

Forests are essential to life on Earth. Trees capture carbon dioxide, produce oxygen, and provide shelter for countless species. Depending on the size and type, a single mature tree can generate enough oxygen for up to 18 people. Unfortunately, deforestation continues at an alarming rate, with humanity destroying 18 million acres of forest annually.

To counteract this loss, Doc.World has chosen to take action. By planting 2,200 trees through Treeplan.org, they are contributing to reforestation efforts that help restore ecosystems, combat climate change, and promote biodiversity.

About Doc.World

Facts aren’t always facts, and “alternative facts” don't always lie.

In a world where “truth” is carefully curated, filtered, and viewed through the lens of social media, often the only difference between truth and fiction lies in the perspective through which one views the world.

Documentary films offer a fascinating peephole into a particular reality, at a certain time of a certain person's life. Whether in the form of an expository, a poem, an essay, an observational piece, whether it's dramatized, animated, or based on interviews, documentary films all have a message to send.

How can we make a difference in the world?

Documentary films are not just an avenue through which we can observe real life; they also serve to inform, educate, and critique. They are valuable creations in a day and age where media is increasingly curated and so much more homogenous.

That is why Doc.World welcomes all of the above forms of documentary film-making, and even more so, those that transcend boundaries to move fluidly between one and more styles.

Doc.World, a new global network of Documentary Film Festivals: Doc.Berlin, Doc.London, Doc.Sydney, Viewpoint Documentary Film Festival Ghent and Doc.Boston.
